THE BALANCE is a private clinical institution providing fully individualized residential treatment for mental health concerns, addiction, trauma, and complex or co-occurring conditions. It operates licensed psychiatric clinics in the Canton of Zurich, Switzerland, and Mallorca, Spain, with each residential program dedicated to one client at a time.

We consider selected requests from journalists, editors, producers, broadcasters, and other media professionals where there is a clear editorial purpose and a meaningful connection to our areas of work.

Media participation is guided by accuracy, clinical responsibility, ethical standards, and strict confidentiality. Acceptance of an inquiry depends on the subject, proposed format, appropriate spokesperson, available preparation time, and compatibility with our responsibilities to clients.

Areas of Editorial Interest

We may consider inquiries relating to:

  • Mental health, addiction, and trauma
  • Complex and co-occurring conditions
  • Individualized and long-term approaches to treatment
  • Fully private, one-client residential care
  • Multidisciplinary and integrated care models
  • Clinical governance and accountability in private healthcare
  • Privacy, ethics, and professional responsibility
  • Family involvement and the wider context of treatment
  • International care coordination and continuity after residential treatment

Our participation is intended to contribute informed, responsible perspectives rather than commentary on individual cases.

Editorial Independence and Commercial Requests

THE BALANCE respects editorial independence. Participation in an interview or contribution does not provide control over the resulting coverage, although we may request that direct quotations, clinical terminology, professional titles, and institutional facts be checked for accuracy.

Editorial and commercial proposals are considered separately. We do not pay for coverage presented as independent journalism, and we do not provide access to clients, testimonials, or confidential treatment information in exchange for publicity.

Any sponsored or commercial proposal must be identified clearly at the time of inquiry and will be reviewed separately from editorial requests.

Privacy and Confidentiality

The privacy of current and former clients remains paramount.

THE BALANCE does not:

  • Confirm or deny whether any person is or has been a client
  • Discuss individual admissions, diagnoses, treatment plans, or outcomes
  • Disclose client histories or case material
  • facilitate client interviews or testimonials
  • Provide access to active treatment environments where privacy could be compromised
  • Offer individual diagnoses or treatment recommendations through the media
  • Present any treatment approach as guaranteeing a particular outcome

These boundaries continue after treatment has ended. A client’s identity or experience is never treated as institutional marketing material.

General discussion of clinical topics, published evidence, treatment principles, governance, and the organization of care may be possible when it does not disclose or imply information about an identifiable individual.

Spokespersons

The appropriate spokesperson is selected according to the subject of the inquiry.

Senior organizational leadership may comment on THE BALANCE’s institutional model, development, international structure, and approach to private care. Clinical or medical subjects may be addressed by appropriately qualified representatives speaking within their professional expertise.

Availability is assessed on a case-by-case basis. Professional titles, credentials, responsibilities, and any independent relationship with THE BALANCE must be represented accurately in the resulting coverage.
